Gastrointestinal Pathology Fellowship
The Gastrointestinal and Liver Pathology Fellowship is based at Roger Williams Medical Center and Westerly Hospital in Rhode Island. It is approved as a non-accredited fellowship by the Roger Williams Medical Center and Boston University School of Medicine Graduate Medical Education Committee.
The fellowship provides comprehensive training in interpretation of endoscopic and liver biopsies, as well as large surgical resections, with approximately 10,000 biopsies per year and more than 26,000 surgical specimens and gastrointestinal and liver pathology consult services. Roger Williams Medical Center is home to busy gastrointestinal, surgical oncology, pancreatic/hepatobiliary surgery, and bone marrow transplant units, which provide a range of both routine and complex GI and liver cases. Training also includes tumor board and frozen section coverage as well as two months’ elective time and opportunities in translational research.
Our gastrointestinal pathology faculty includes co-directors Drs. Stancu and Wang, along with Drs. Lev, Lee, Carlsten and Darko.
